This special night features the two winners from ASC 2014: 1st place, This Frontier Needs Heroes (Jacksonville, FL) and runner up, Adam Sams (Augusta, GA).
“[This Frontier Needs Heroes] spangle heartfelt Americana with psychedelic brightness and lyrical levity.” - SPIN
"We're warning you now: You might fall in love with someone in the room during this band's set. So genuine, so commanding, so deceptively simple is TFNH's music that, before you know it, something inside you has shifted - suddenly you're staring into someone else's eyes from across the bar." -Folio Weekly
"Adam Sams is a talented songwriter with a unique way of weaving together meaningful lyrics and creative melodies." - Drew Shirley (Switchfoot)
"It is a rare occurrence that an album can be so perfectly done; [Adam Sams] has given listeners not just something new to listen to but a breath of fresh, artful air. His lyrics are deep without over-reaching, his music is simple and beautiful, and his voice is enthralling. This is without question some of the best music that has come out as of late." - Ryan Barbee (Jesus Freak Hideout)
This Frontier Needs Heroes have spent the past 5 years playing shows all over the world. Just a guitar, and their voices, logging thousands of miles in their car, touring the greatest cities of North America and Europe, selling one record at a time, making one fan at a time. This determination and DIY ethos brought them on an epic journey around the world, playing in clubs, houses, and festival stages.
Their new album Hooky, recorded in the summer of 2012 on 2 inch analog tape at Dr. Dog’s studio in Philadelphia with the help of Loveland Recording’s Nathan Sabatino, was made with the contribution of a full band, making Hooky their most richly realized and, yes, hookiest album to date.
